The Paramount Theatre is an abandoned theater located on 560 Bay St. in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island, NY. The building, however, holds a colorful history in this borough.
This research book was made to show the different stages the Paramount Theatre has went through, from its 1930 opening as a movie palace, to its short-lived life as a rock concert venue (hosting names such as Metallica, Dead Kennedys, and Talking Heads), to its current shuttered state.
This book also features a background history of Stapleton and a comparison of other New York City movie palaces that were turned into some of the today’s live music venues.
